Team Building Tactics For Team Winners

There are many ways to inspire a team of workers to try harder, work faster and increase productivity, but using an iron fist isn't one of them. The best way to encourage a group of people to become more productive is to recognise their skills and shower them with praise. This guide will help you get the most out of team building and bonding for a group of people that work together every day.

Being part of a team is about working together, but sometimes job roles can prevent people from using their full potential in the desire to just get the job done. This often means that communication is broken down between colleagues and there is a feeling of isolation. The result of this situation is a group of workers that are overwhelmed with apathy and lack the insight to achieve for a common goal.

Team building exercises are designed to address this problem by encouraging colleagues to come together in an informal and social environment. Meeting outside of the workplace enables barriers to be broken down and new, more natural hierarchies to be formed. The exercises and tasks are also designed to highlight hidden skills and undesirable behaviour, which encourages each person to find their ideal niche according to tasks set, not according to a position at work.

This means that it is possible for the office cleaner to be in charge of a group comprised of managing directors. By allowing new orders to be formed, the management get a chance to see the full potential of their employees, and therefore establish the correct working roles for each individual. Team building also helps to establish a different type of bond between fellow workers outside of the usual constraints of a working environment.

Team building events can be based on any number of themes, from treasure hunts to TV quiz shows. If your team works in a highly driven environment, choose an event that offers a chance to try out some recreational activities. Outdoor themed days for example offer archery, clay pigeon shooting, and even geese herding. Although these may not seem like tasks that will highlight skills that are applicable in a working environment, you would be surprised at the skills that are demonstrated just through organising teams and working out a strategy. For this reason, the key to organising a team building event is to choose a day that offers the most fun for the majority of those involved.
